Bird Finder Binoculars
I love a simple arts and crafts that is completely kid-led. These bird binoculars were such a hitting with the kids during our "BIRDS & BUGS" week at art military camp. They loved being able to pick out their own color combinations, wrap yarn and cutting record (2 skills that take lots of concentration and make little ones feel very proud), and gum their two parts together for an instant toy!

Supplies:
~ TP rolls
~ Yarn (I buy mine at Michael's. You can find them on Amazon, but don't spend more $3-$4 per color. My favorite yarns for inexpensive: watermelon pink, dusty blue
, golden xanthous
, turquoise
, chartreuse green
, flame red
, teal
, these really cool neon colors
. Or go with this multi-pack
of smaller bundles, which is actually handy if yous desire merely a little bit)
~ Colored washi tape (start on Amazon with these, only if you lot want to footstep it upward then become to Etsy where you lot'll find lots more than choices)
~ Modest kid scissors
~ Elmer'south glue
~ Masking tape
~ Hole punch (1/8″)
Procedure:
~ Start by taping down 1 end of the yarn. And so wrap the yarn around the TP ringlet and tape the other end. Some kids wanted to only wrap ane piece, other kids wanted to wrap 3 or 4. Information technology was completely their choice.
~ When they are finished wrapping and taping, hand them the mucilage and permit them squeeze ane line down the middle of one of the TP rolls. We then squeezed the two rolls together, and used a long piece of masking tape to run all the fashion inside and around the two rolls to keep them in place.
~ Punch two holes on either side of the rolls. Tie a long piece of yarn through the holes and so the binoculars go over their heads.
They wore them proudly around their necks for the residuum of the day, spotting lots of "birds" (but mostly our skilful-natured domestic dog, chasing her around and around). Click over to see the bird houses the kids fabricated, and besides this cute bird garland and these spectacular bird nests!
